Simple ways to add more smiles to your day
Allowing yourself opportunities to smile and laugh is a powerful trait to staying happy, keeping positive and embracing your own life. The health outcomes and personal benefits will flourish as a result.
The best part about smiling and laughter is that it’s free and readily available to anyone, at any time, in any place. Shared with the liberty of a natural (or even forced) smile, you can truly enrich colour and purpose in your life.
And if you don’t feel the need to smile, why not do it for someone that might need it more than you? Yes, smiles are contagious – it’s not just a saying. Scientists believe that smiling really is contagious. In a study conducted in Sweden, people had difficulty frowning when they looked at other subjects who were smiling, and their muscles twitched into smiles all on their own.

Spend time with those friends and family that make you feel happy
Surround yourself with happy, fun-loving, optimistic people that bring out your happy side. Such positive behaviour is addictive and rubs off on you subconsciously as mimic their behavioural patterns. Avoid the negative people in your life.
Find things to smile and laugh about
Once you start consciously looking at all the things that are funny and uplifting, you will be more aware of them, in tune with them,and more ready to engage in a spontaneous smiles or laughter.
Smile regularly, even if it’s forced
As mentioned, your brain does not know the difference between a fake or real smile, and by doing so more often you will feel better, and become more likely to smile and laugh more spontaneously.
Watch funny movies, TV shows and comedy standup
This is an excellent way to inject some instant humour into your life. Avoid negative programs and news broadcasts, instead turn your viewing to more positive and light-hearted topics or shows, with more opportunity for a chuckle or two.
