Welcome to Australia’s largest online personal classifieds for the Over 60s

This page provides further information on how our free classifieds site works, suggested etiquette, housekeeping rules and frequently asked questions (FAQs).

How the online classifieds work?

When you submit an ad

  • Once you submit your ad, it will be first reviewed by our Classifieds team to ensure it follows our housekeeping rules (see below FAQs).
  • If your ad is approved, we will publish your ad and email you within 48 hours.
  • The email will be sent from 60+Club Classifieds (classifieds@60plusclub.com.au) with the subject line “Ad Approved – Classifieds – 60+Club” *.
  • The email will include your allocated ref no and provide more information and next steps.
  • Your ref no is what others will include when responding to your ad.

*We recommend that you regularly check your junk/spam inbox regularly in case our email has been stuck by your mailbox.

Replying to an ad

  • When replying to someone’s ad, include their ref no.
  • It is important to know that any contact details that you include in your reply will be received by the recipient. This includes your name, email address, location, age and/or phone number. Leaving a phone number is optional, but you will need to include a valid email address in order for the recipient to respond back.
  • Your reply will be screened for any suspicious activity such as fraud, scams, harrassment, profanity or sexual content.
  • Once approved, an email will be sent to the ad owner on your behalf, from us. It will include the above mentioned details.
  • Should the recipient wish to respond back to you, they will reply to whatever contact details you have included your message.

Please note:

  • Our site does not provide back-and-forth email functionality. We simply facilitate the initial introductions. Just like the original classifieds worked, only we are online.
  • Remember to check your junk/spam inbox regularly in case their reply to you has been stuck in your mailbox (as may be the case being their email address will be unfamiliar to your mailbox contacts).

Receiving a reply to your ad

  • You will receive an email from 60+Club Classifieds (classifieds@60plusclub.com.au) with the subject line “You have received a reply from [[Responders First Name]] • 60+Club Personals” *
  • The email will include your ref no, and the person’s name, age, location, message and contact details.
  • If you wish to respond, you can reply via the email address and/or phone number they have included in their reply. Do not reply back to our email, it will not be received or sent to the individual.
  • We also recommend that you include your ref no so they know who has responded and a clear subject line (if sending an email). Eg. Ref no X123 responding to your reply on 60+ classifieds

*We recommend that you regularly check your junk/spam inbox regularly in case our email has been stuck by your mailbox.

Etiquette

On behalf of the 60+Club Classifieds team, we simply ask all individuals with an active ad, to please take the time to respond to those that reply to your ad – or at the least those that make the effort to write lengthy reply to your ad.

For many, putting themselves out there and writing a reply to an ad is a big deal, and ignoring them only makes them feel worse and likely deter them from putting themselves out there again. Please remember that there are many over 60s that struggle with depression and loneliness, and the last thing we want to create is more hurt and rejection. Our aim is to offer fun, safe and friendly conversations. Thank you ❤️

Can I trust every reply that I receive from my ad?

No. Whilst we work extremely hard on keeping our platform secure and protecting users, we cannot gaurantee that every response is trustworth. We do screen every ad that is submitted and reply that is sent, but as with any online dating site / apps, there can be some that are smarter than others and missed, so always be cautious. And we do appreciate, given our audience are predominantly over 60, that many are not computer literate and may strugle with typing – often using shortened language.

If in doubt, feel free to contact us at classifieds@60plusclub.com.au and we can review for you. We strongly encourage that in no circumstances should you agree to share too much personal information up front, especially financial information. And do not give or loan money, especially if you have not yet physically met the person.

60+Club is not liable for any personal or financial damage or loss caused from using our site, so please be cautious and stay vigilant. And if you are unsure you can always ask us to investigate a profile. Please read our full dislaimer below.

I think I am a target of a dating scam, what should I do?

Here is a basic checklist of questions to ask yourself each time you meet someone online. Especially if you are a little unsure about your new friend. A combination of these red flags could indicate a friend or relative is involved in a scam:

  • your relationship started online
  • you have never met the person face to face
  • you have not seen the person via Skype, webcam or video chat
  • if you have spoken on the phone, it’s rare and the calls are brief
  • they fall in love within weeks, if not days of talking
  • you are becoming secretive of the relationship and don’t want to discuss it (you may be unknowingly coached not to share too many details with your friends or family)
  • there has been a request for money.
  • you receive ‘investment advice’, in particular involving cryptocurrency or similar

Next steps

If you begin to realise you may be involved in a romance scam, there are a number of options to consider:

  • Speak with your friend or family member to share your concerns
  • Visit the Scamwatch website, opens in new window together to point out the similarities between their relationship and the case studies
  • Google the scammer’s name to see if they’ve been reported on any scam sites
  • Do a reverse Google image search of any photos they’ve sent, as they may already be on scam reporting sites. Watch 3 min video on reverse Google image search
  • If you have given away personal details, contact IDCARE. IDCARE is a free victim support service that can help you recover your identity and understand steps you can take to protect yourself. Phone their helpline on 1800 595 160 or visit the IDCARE website, opens in new window to find out more. NAB sponsors IDCARE and if you are a NAB customer, let them know and you will get prioritised support
  • If you have already sent money, you should report it to the police, ReportCyber, opens in new window and their bank
